Library of Birmingham
Project completed: March 2019
Home to over 400,000 books and publications the new £189 Million Library of Birmingham overlooks the green heart of the university and is an inspirational place built for all to enjoy.
IMS Access Services played a key role in the future maintenance at the Library, contracted to install an internal permanent access system for the use of access cradles was part of a complex design and installation process, using the NorAcon NP03 monorail profile the track was discretly installed into the ceiling as to not detract from the aesthetic qualities of the libraries internal space.
iMS Access Services have designed and installed a permanent access solution for the Library of Birmingham, the most difficult of which was carried out at level 9, in the main atrium looking up towards the large circular skylight, a spectacular design architecturally, but this provided a problem, how would you be able to reach the center?
By designing the track in such a way it would be obscured by the mullions and lattices, this meant creating contours in the track around the internal circular shape and have it bend outward towards the center providing access for the lower levels to the lower levels of the atrium.
